Use items after the colony works
Build An Ant Empire items add temporary speed, ant mutations, removal, and feeding convenience, but they do not replace the core economy. Place ants, collect Food, sell for Cash, and stabilize recruitment before turning the shop into the main goal. Current guides consistently advise using expensive potions on ants you expect to keep rather than on an opening Common that will soon be replaced.
The Items Index records currently documented names and roles with confidence and check dates. It does not claim a complete current shop price table because those values need a fresh in-game pass. Use the live item panel for the final price, target, duration, and confirmation before spending.
Currently documented item groups

Use: a high-rarity keeper that will remain in production.
Status: Community corroborated; stacking and overwrite need testing.
Mutation Removal
Known role: removes a current mutation.
Use: correct a target before applying a different potion.
Status: Community corroborated; refund behavior is not supported.
Auto Jelly Feed
Known role: automatically feeds ants with Jelly when the live conditions are met.

Speed Jelly is temporary
The Jelly Guide separates timed movement items from permanent colony upgrades. A Speed Jelly does not raise an ant’s rarity, add a colony slot, improve Egg Luck, or become a mutation merely because it is used on an ant. It helps during the displayed duration, so activate it when the route is ready and you can spend the time collecting.
Choose a target deliberately. A useful worker on a long collection route may benefit more than an ant outside production. Check the current duration and effect in the live panel. Do not rely on a value copied from a previous balance version, and do not start the timer while deciding where the Sell station is.
Mutations belong on keepers
Current community sources name Leaf, Bubblegum, Candy, Rainbow, Petal, and Starlight mutations. They describe potions as applying an efficiency effect to a selected ant, with higher tiers costing dramatically more. Those names form a useful lookup, but exact prices and multipliers remain community-reported rather than official and must be checked against the current shop.
The Mutations Guide focuses on target selection, comparison, removal, and the unverified stacking rule. Before applying a potion, confirm the selected ant, its rarity, its active slot, and whether you expect to keep it. Never use a valuable mutation on an ant you intend to submit for mount training.
Do not assume two mutations add or multiply. Current public descriptions do not establish stacking or overwrite behavior. If the live confirmation is unclear, stop before consuming a second potion. The existence of a removal item suggests mutation state matters, but it does not prove what a second application does.
Auto Jelly Feed is a separate control
Auto Jelly Feed describes an automatic feeding action, while Speed Jelly names a timed movement item. Similar wording does not prove that the same resource, target, or menu operates both. The Auto Jelly Feed Guide shows how to check the feature state, eligible target, visible input, and result without guessing a timer or unlock condition.
Learn manual feeding first. Once you can see what a successful action changes, enable automation and observe the next eligible result. If nothing happens, inspect the enabled state and requirements before buying unrelated Jelly from the shop.
Decide whether an item is affordable
An item is affordable only when the purchase leaves the colony able to continue. Keep enough Cash for a useful Queen offer, needed space, and the next ordinary production cycle. A shop button being available does not mean the item is the best next purchase.
Name the target and purpose before confirming. “This mutation goes on my highest-rarity placed ant” is a plan. “This Jelly will cover the next focused collection session” is a plan. “The item has a large suffix and looks powerful” is not. Compare the item with the upgrade or worker you would delay by buying it.
Item mistakes and recovery
If a timed item was activated too early, finish as many productive cycles as possible and do not buy another merely to extend the mistake. If a potion was applied to a weak ant, keep the worker productive until replacement is worthwhile; removal may clear the mutation but should not be assumed to refund the original cost.
If Auto Jelly Feed does not run, inspect the feature state, target, input, and live requirement. Rejoining a current server can refresh a stale interface, but it cannot replace a missing resource or ineligible target. Change one condition at a time so you can identify the actual cause.
Frequently asked questions
What items are in Build An Ant Empire?
Current guides document Speed Jelly tiers, six named mutation potions, a Mutation Removal Potion, and Auto Jelly Feed as a related feature. Use the current shop for the final inventory.
Should a beginner buy items?
Stabilize ants, slots, Food sales, and the Queen reserve first. Buy an item when you can name its target and purpose without stopping ordinary progression.
Are Jellies mutations?
No. Speed Jelly is described as temporary movement support, while mutation potions apply named effects to a chosen ant.
Do mutations stack?
Not reliably confirmed. Read the live confirmation before applying another potion and do not calculate a combined effect from separate community rows.
Is Auto Jelly Feed the same as using Speed Jelly?
No. One is an automation feature and the other is an item category. Check the live feeding interface for its accepted input and target rules.
